T Bone Burnett to Release First New Album in 14 Years

T Bone Burnett to Release First New Album in 14 Years The True False Identity in Stores and Online May 16
Thursday March 23, 6:00 am ET
Twenty Twenty - The Essential T Bone Burnett 40 Song Career Retrospective Set For Simultaneous Release

NEW YORK, March 23 /PRNewswire/ — T Bone Burnett will emerge from a 14-year hiatus as a recording artist to release The True False Identity — a collection of entirely new songs written and produced by T Bone — on May 16 on DMZ/Columbia Records. That same day, Legacy Recordings will release the 40-song, 2-disk Twenty Twenty - The Essential T Bone Burnett, the first-ever career retrospective from this quintessential American songwriter and musician.

The DualDisc version of The True False Identity features vidiosyncrasy, a 20-minute film created exclusively for this release. Directed by Jesse Dylan, vidiosyncrasy captures T Bone in a special solo performance of songs and spoken word.

P.O.D. lets warriors attack Top 40 radio

Sme people don’t think the Warriors can get P.O.D. on Top 40 radio. Warriors always rise to the occasion, because they support the boys in all things!!! We dominated TRL, currently #1 on MTV2 T-Minus Rock as well as #1 on Christian Rock Radio, now to take over all radio and make sure that “Goodbye For Now” is playing everywhere possible. With so many things going on with P.O.D. and so many doors being opened this is one area that the Warriors really need to focus on so that we can help P.O.D. take over radio. The stations listed are Rock and Top 40 format please request on both.

To get the song played we must all be calling and emailing requests, please be polite when calling. Don’t call the same station over and over, bugging or annoying a station will only get them angry and insure that they won’t play the song. Call in requests will be taken more seriously so please remember to call throughout the day and daily. Let all your friends know to call in as well. Multiple requests per station, from a variety of people is the best way to get the stations playing “Goodbye For Now”. Lets do this Warriors!!!!

The Violet Burning needs your help

Michael Pritzl writes:
As some of you know, we have been on tour with John Davis this past week. The shows have not been going as good as we have hoped. our booking agency has made arrangements at most of these concerts for us to receive some of the monies that come in from the door.

Normally we support our ministry from guarantees versus a split of these monies that come in from people coming to the show.

When you have a guarantee it encourages the promoter to actually promote and let people know that there is a show, and it also ensures that the promoter does his/her part to get people out to the concerts.

When there is no guarantee, the promoter is likely to do nothing, because they are not held to any sort of financial responsibility. That is pretty much what has happened this past week. The promoters have not done any promotion outside of their venues and have had hardly anyone out at the shows.

Since we don’t know what to do, we are hoping that some of you might find some time to help us to promote these shows.

If you are in any of these areas  you could help:
3.23 (Thr) Wilmington, OH @ Joe’s Java
3.24 (Fri) Mt. Vernon, OH @ The Escape Zone
3.25 (Sat) Madison, WI @ The Annex
3.26 (Sun) Chicago, IL @ The Beat Kitchen
3.28 (Tues) Cedar Rapids, IA @ CSPS
3.29 (Wed) Kansas City, MO @ The Hurricane
3.30 (Thr) Springfield, MO @ Nu Brew Coffee House
3.31 (Fri) St. Louis, MO @ Old Roxana Theater
4.2 (Sun) Memphis, TN @ Hitone

ways you could help:
-placing flyers in stores, churches, college groups, home groups, high school groups.
we have a flyer available at our homepage:
www.thevioletburning.com
scroll down and look where it says “street team”
print that flyer, it is a pdf file.
you can print out some of these or make copies and bring them to churches, high school groups, college groups, home groups, stores, coffee shops in the area, that would be great.
-you could make announcements at your churches, or call some churches in your area that you know enjoy great music and ask if you can make an announcement promoting the show in your area.
-you could perhaps call some friends and invite them along with you to come out to the shows.
-message boards, my space, and email is good as well. but, first hand invitations tend to be the best.

mostly, you can pray for the violet burning and john davis and his team.

The Choir on tour

Hello Choir buddies -
I know we just emailed an update recently, but we had some server problems and wanted to be sure you had information on our upcoming live shows. You can find the confirmed dates below. We hope to add more shows in the days to come. Visit our website for updates.

Visit our messageboard too, where you can interact with other Choir pals and members of the band. Here’s an excerpt on one thread about the story behind the songs from Steve Hindalong.

I wrote How I Wish I knew about my daughter, Emily (wide eyed wonder girl). She was fourteen (She’s 16 now) and really depressed much of the time. She’s always been the melancholy sort, but was particularly down at that time. Marc came over one morning to write. Our plan was to come up with something for Caedmon’s Call or Sonic Flood but when Marc started playing that melodic picky guitar part (That’s Marc playing the acoustic on the album) I immediately began singing “When I see you falling…” with Emily in mind. Marc and I have written many songs together that I love — but I think How I Wish I Knew is my favorite. It’s the only song that wasn’t written specifically for the new album within a 3 week period.
By the way, Emily was just awarded a full scholarship to Simon’s Rock college in Massachusetts, a school for high achieving kids who will skip their last 2 years of high school and go straight to college early! We’re quite proud of her academic success…but mostly I care that she finds peace, love and joy — which can be elusive.
- Steve Hindalong

You can hear this song right now on our MySpace.com player at www.myspace.com/thechoirspace. It’s also on the new CD of course. If you haven’t taken the time to order your copy of our newest yet, please think about getting it now. Your support is appreciated and helps us to continue The Choir. Visit our online store at http://www.thechoir.net/store and grab O How The Mighty Have Fallen soon!

More web updates to come after we get past these next batch of shows. Please check in with us anytime.
Thanks for listening,
The Choir

Velvet Blue Music news

April will be an ep explosion ! New eps from Kissing Cousins “EP2″, Calico Sunset “Blue Balloon”, and Map “San Francisco in the 90’s” are all coming April 11th. Be sure to check out the new Map feature at www.velvetbluemusic.com Gary Murray of LN will be recording his first solo record, and will for the first time be doing some touring (there’s a couple of dates in the shows section already). In fact all the bands are playing a lot of shows, so go see them ! Silver Cities are writing songs for their debut full length and Kissing Cousins have already started to record EP3 !

VBM 107 - Richard Swift - Walking Without Effort 2 x 12″ + bonus cd - This is a double 12″ on high quality vinyl in a gatefold jacket + it includes a bonus cd inside with Mr. Swifts personal home recorded demos. This is a co-release with our pals at Secretly Canadian.
VBM 106 - Kissing Cousins - EP1 - Oh, all the hype. All girl band crafting lo-fi-ish, dark guitar lines with ultra sultry vocals. Sonic Youth meets PJ Harvey. They are on the new Vice sampler, opening for Low, The New Year, Richard Swift, etc and getting great press, hitting the road, and have EP2 coming out in April. “Kissing Cousins certainly know how to set the mood, so even if the big boys don’t notice, this ep will do wonders for your love life” - Crap Filter Magazine “Their songs are left dark, brooding, and superbly lo-fi. Because that’s what makes them extremely artistic and angsty, without the angst” - Smother Magazine
VBM 105 - LN - Dirt Floor Hotel Part II - In case you didn’t know LN is over and this is their last release. Absolutely stunning and amazing end to a great band. Minimal, smooth, and heart aching. “These songs are so raw and rough that you can almost feel the pain that was spent crafting these 11 songs” - Smother Magazine “Any fan of Red House Painters, Nick Drake, Nick Cave, Clem Snide or any folksy-indie rock should look into LN, it’s completely worth the tim, effort, and cash” - Punkbands.com “LN has again stretched itself musically, creating a work that is full, stripped down, emotional, sad, warm, cold, touching, and expertly produced” - Somewherecold.com
VBM 102 - Silver Cities - Emergency cd ep - If you haven’t heard of heard about these guys, you will. Their recent live shows (opening for She Wants Revenge, Adorable, Richard Swift, The 88, etc) have brought them quite a buzz around town. The 5 songs ep is a post punk, late 70’s, early rock, drama, you can dance to ? ” Silver Cities is not a carbon copy of The Killers, Franz Ferdinand or whatever the dance-rock-du-jour is on the airwaves. The album has very solid hooks” - Crap Filter Magazine

Forever Changed: 1999-2006

Forever Changed sent the following announcement to their fanbase today:

“This is probably the last thing anyone really expected, and there’s no real way to lead into this. So let’s just come out and say it and go from there:

After the month of May of this year, the members of Forever Changed will be parting ways. We will play the remainder of booked shows that we have plus some farewell dates in some of our favorite places (including Cornerstone Florida), and after that, well we’re not really sure, but Forever Changed will be no more.” Go to www.foreverchanged.net for more.
