Kingdom Bound 2007 talent search is online

Kingdom Bound Ministries holds an annual Christian music festival at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort, halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, New York. Now in its 21st year with 65,000 people in attendance over the course of four days, Kingdom Bound 2007 will bring together some of today’s most popular Christian pop, rock, and modern worship artists, including Casting Crowns, TobyMac, Newsboys, Chris Tomlin, and David Crowder, among many others, for this summer’s festival, to be held August 5-8, 2007, at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort in Darien Center, New York.

In previous years, Kingdom Bound hosted live talent search competitions in select cities in the U.S. and Canada to win a slot to play at the festival and other prizes. This year, however, the talent search is exclusively online, through a partnership with Artist Ovation. Aspiring Christian/Gospel singers and bands should visit www.kingdombound.org and click on the Artist Ovation graphic to find out details about entering this year’s talent search.

For less than $200, a singer or band can have one of their original songs posted online for music fans to listen to and rate. The sooner someone submits their music, the more weeks of exposure they’ll get online. The highest rated artist gets to play the Kingdom Bound festival this summer, and be entered into another competition with the chance to win an artist development agreement with Word Label Group.

Kingdom Bound 2007 will be a diverse music festival, featuring praise and worship, hip-hop, blues, big band, pop, rock and other styles of music. Event or day pass tickets, along with campsite/RV/hotel packages, are currently available. For tickets and accommodation information, call 800-461-4485, and to see a current list of the more than 50 bands, singers, and speakers who will be offering concerts or seminars at Kingdom Bound 2007, visit www.kingdombound.org.

Jonathan Rundman’s Best of the 20th Century CD Release Concert

PRESS RELEASE
April 7th, 2007. For immediate release.

MINNEAPOLIS SONGWRITER JONATHAN RUNDMAN
TO RELEASE BEST OF THE 20th CENTURY ALBUM
AND PERFORM AT THE LORING PLAYHOUSE

Minneapolis, MN – Critically acclaimed Minneapolis-based songwriter Jonathan Rundman will release a new album The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century on May 1,  2007. The new CD features highlights from his earliest albums, released during the 1990s. Rundman will perform a full-band CD release show at the Loring Playhouse in Minneapolis.

Tuesday, May 1st, 8PM, $8, all ages
JONATHAN RUNDMAN Best of the 20th Century CD RELEASE SHOW
The Loring Playhouse
1633 Hennepin Ave
Minneapolis, MN 55403
(612) 486-5757
Sponsored by the FRIDGE FESTIVAL
http://www.fridgefestival.org
And the ART SOUNDS PROJECT http://www.myspace.com/theartsoundsproject

The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century provides an excellent overview of the musical adventurousness that has likened Jonathan Rundman to everyone from Neil Young to Liz Phair to Marshall Crenshaw to Giant Sand. For the past decade, music journalists from coast to coast have raved about Rundman’s unusual wordplay, inventive instrumentation, and addictive melodies. Guest musicians on the album include guitarist Dag Juhlin (Poi Dog Pondering, Scott MacCaughey, John Wesley Harding), drummer Pat Tomek (The Rainmakers), Mike Bradburn & Mark Balletto (of Chicago band Dolly Varden), and local Twin Cities musicians including guitarist Matt Patrick (Sara Groves, Put Down the Muffin), drummer Troy Alexander (Honeydogs, Tina Schlieske), and banjo player Anders Gyllenhaal (editor of the Star Tribune!).

Rundman’s CD release concert will take place at the Loring Playhouse in Minneapolis, and is sponsored by the Art Sounds Project, a series of music/media performances within the Fridge Festival. In addition to Jonathan Rundman’s full band performance, the music will be accompanied by projected visual images by local photographers Will Schroeer (wschroeer@gmail.com) and Ryan Torma (http://www.ryantorma.com).

2007 marks the 15-year anniversary of Rundman’s career as a national touring musician.

The Alarm’s Mike Peter plans to fulfill 7/7/07 prophecy

On Saturday the 7.7.07, Mike Peters will lead The Alarm back onto the stage of Birmingham Academy for the first of seven U.K. shows to be played throughout 2007 / 08 thus fulfilling the prophecy he delivered from the stage at the Gathering. “The Alarm will be back when the three sevens clash”.

Each show will also coincide with the release of brand new Alarm music. A brand new EP will be released at each of the 2007 shows leading up to the launch of the new album ‘Counter Attack’ which will be unveiled at The Gathering 2008!

Mike Peters vows that ‘Counter Attack’ will be a volatile mix of high energy rock and roll inspired by all that has inspired him. Amazingly, or not so whichever way you want to look at it, 7/7/07 is the 30th anniversary since Mike Peters exploded into life as a musician at the first ever ‘Toilets’ gig at the Palace Hotel in Rhyl during the legendary summer of 1977. ‘Counter Attack’ and all the preceeding EP’s will feature brand new Mike Peters’ Alarm compositions [Details to follow].

Publisher held in a Nicaraguan Jail

From Lori Lenz of Biscuit PR:

VOLZ FALSELY SENTENCED IN NICARAGUA
Eric Volz is being held in a Nicaraguan jail after being sentenced to 30 years in jail for a murder he didn’t commit. It’s clear that he’s being judged largely because he is an American. There is no evidence linking him to the crime, 10 witnesses offered to testify that he was 2 hours away during the time of the murder even though most weren’t allowed to testify.

Please check these out:

Helping him only takes a few minutes. Please go to http://congress.org/ and put in your zip code…and beg your elected officials to step in on his behalf. Every letter counts for 100 people, so a few of you writing could make a huge difference in Eric’s life.
