The Best of Jonathan Rundman: 20 Songs from the 20th Century provides an excellent overview of the musical adventurousness that has likened Jonathan Rundman to everyone from Neil Young to Liz Phair to Marshall Crenshaw to Giant Sand. For the past decade, music journalists from coast to coast have raved about Rundman’s unusual wordplay, inventive instrumentation, and addictive melodies. Guest musicians on the album include guitarist Dag Juhlin (Poi Dog Pondering, Scott MacCaughey, John Wesley Harding), drummer Pat Tomek (The Rainmakers), Mike Bradburn & Mark Balletto (of Chicago band Dolly Varden), and local Twin Cities musicians including guitarist Matt Patrick (Sara Groves, Put Down the Muffin), drummer Troy Alexander (Honeydogs, Tina Schlieske), and banjo player Anders Gyllenhaal (editor of the Star Tribune!).

Rundman’s CD release concert will take place at the Loring Playhouse in Minneapolis, and is sponsored by the Art Sounds Project, a series of music/media performances within the Fridge Festival. In addition to Jonathan Rundman’s full band performance, the music will be accompanied by projected visual images by local photographers Will Schroeer (wschroeer@gmail.com) and Ryan Torma (http://www.ryantorma.com).

2007 marks the 15-year anniversary of Rundman’s career as a national touring musician.
