02.11.09SHOUT! Vol. 9

Winter is killing me slowly! For some reason, I have grown very impatient with the season this year. Alas! Four more weeks till spring!!

Now, on with the goings on…

The BIG news her is the upcoming April released of my new live release SHOUT! LIVE - A collection of 4 nights of recording from our Sunday Night Shout! series held at the Station Inn here in Nashville in the fall of 2008.

It’s exciting for a number of reasons, one in particular is that we went to great lengths to record as purely as we could, using all vintage gear in order to give the listener (that’s you) the best live experience possible. That said, we went the extra distance to bring it you all on glorious 180 gram (the thick stuff) VINYL!!! All for you, the consummate music lover!!!!!

Pre-order before March 31st and you’ll receive a super special fan package, including the double vinyl with gatefold sleeves (just like Frampton Comes Alive, Yeah!!!), the full length CD with a bonus track, a special autographed poster, extended liner notes about the music written by yours truly and the kicker YOUR NAME IN THE CREDITS!!! Plus if that wasn’t enough when you pre-order the record on my site you will get two video downloads: one of them is the video we did for “I’m Gonna Get There” and the other is my thanks to you… filmed waaay too early in the morning.

BONNAROO!! We are proud to announce th at we have been invited back to the most prestigious music festival in North America, Bonnaroo! Great line-up this year! It’s gonna be a blast. Check it out at www.bonnaroo.com

HOLLYWOOD BOWL: This just in- We have been invited to play the legendary Hollywood Bowl for a special nigh of music opening up for the equally legendary Patti LaBelle!!! Sometimes life gets really really surreal!!! Just for kicks, go to the Hollywood Bowl website to get a feel for the history…you’ll quickly realize the depth of my excitement over this one (and we get to play some amazing places!) www.hollywoodbowl.com

NEW TOUR DATES: New dates are coming in all the time! Please be sure to check out the tour pages and make plans to join us!!

YOUTUBE CHANNEL: Do you you YouTube? We do and we love it!! Go over and check it out! www.youtube.com/mikefarrismusic
We added a bunch of stuff lately that you guys post and I’ve also begun to post my own personal favorites.

FACEBOOK: We are now working on getting our Facebook refreshed. I signed on the other day and found EVERYBODY and EVERYBODY found me! Geeeesh! Now I know what America does all day…

DELBERT CRUISE: Julie, Christian, Ann, Regina and I joined Delbert McClinton for his famous Sandy Beaches Cruise in January. We had an absolute blast and nearly ate every single crumb of food on the boat…seriously…event the toast. Too many great musicians to mention. Thanks to Delbert, Wendy and their fine staff for showing us such a great time!!! Go to www.delbert.com to get the skinny and most importantly, sign up to join us on the cruise next year!!

BIG HOUSE ANNUAL FUNDRAISER: Just got back from Macon, GA playing for The Allman Brothers Band’s Big House Museum. What a great time we had! Gina, Ann, Christian and I then got up early the next morning to join the fine folks at Centenary Church for some “church!” Thanks to Kirk and Kirsten West and everyone at Centenary for giving us such a warm reception!! See ya very soon! www.thebighousemuseum.com www.centenarymacon.org

NYC - BBKing’s: Thank you to everyone who joined us for my first visit back to New York since I moved back home, four years ago. New York will always hold a special place in my heart! Here’s to many years of friendship and music! (See myspace blog)

FINALLY: Last issue we tried something different with the trivia and asked, instead, for everyone to send us a video of you and/or your friends, family playing/karoke’ing/lip synching songs from Salvation In Lights (check out YouTube Channel for the girls singing “Sit Down Servant” in the car as my inspiration for this) and we didn’t get a single entry!!!! I know you guys aren’t shy. I saw some of your posts on facebook…

Sooooo, let’s try this again…send us your video of you, your kids, friends, neighbors, anybody performing, in some way any song from Salvation In Lights (you can do this by sharing with us on YouTube) and the bestest, most talented, funniest, most special video will bag you your very own SHOUT! Live exclusive personalized pre-order package!

Now that’s worth actin’ stupid for 3 minutes!!!

That about covers it from here! Every time I do one of these newsletters I am amazed at how far we’ve all come and how much further this music is going to take us all! As the tour season gets underway I hope to see you all (with all of your friends) when we hit your town! Thank you for sharing the music with us!

Mike

Noise From NoiseTrade - Sarah Siskind is Artist of the Month

Artist Of The Month - Sarah Siskind

We are thrilled to have the much anticipated new release from Sarah Siskind as our featured album this month. We’ve all been waiting for Say It Louder since her eclectic and highly acclaimed debut Covered in 2002, which featured renowned jazz guitarist Bill Frisell. But while we’ve been waiting for Say It Louder, Sarah has certainly been keeping busy, collaborating with singer/songwriters Julie Lee and Jodi Haynes on the Old Black Kettle album and writing the signature single from Alison Krauss’s Grammy award winning A Hundred Miles Or More. So you’re probably a Sarah Siskind fan and don’t even know it. Be sure and grab Say It Louder, only available for a limited time.

Do You Twitter?

If you aren’t on Twitter, you need to check it out. Many of your favorite artists are on Twitter, so it’s a great way to follow what they are up to. Be sure to follow us @NoiseTrade so you’ll know right away when we add new music or post on our blog. And we just added Twitter This! buttons to all of our artist pages, so you have another way to tell your friends when you find a great new artist on Noisetrade.

NoiseTrade Artist Stimulus Package
Stimulus packages seem to be all the rage today. We think it’s time to invest some money in something we really believe in - Artists. So from now till the end of February, we’ve reduced the cost of signing up with NoiseTrade to $199. Signup now and let’s get this economy back on track.

Paste Digital VIP
Our friends at Paste Magazine share our passion for helping people find great artists. And they were the first magazine we know that allowed their subscribers to pay what they wanted for a subscription. They’ve started a cool new program called Paste Digital VIP. Every year you get 12 albums, 4 DVDs, 52 mp3s, a t-shirt, and more, for just $3.95 a month. It’s a new way for you to experience new music & film that’s been lovingly handpicked by the folks at Paste. We think you’ll be amazed at both the quality and the quantity of media you get with your membership. Follow the link at the bottom of our homepage and check it out.

Thanks For Voting For NoiseTrade

NoiseTrade won the People’s Choice Award for Best Music Site in the Mashable 2nd Annual Open Web Awards. We won over great sites like Last.fm and Pandora. We’re convinced we won because those guys have subscribers while we have fans. It’s the same model all our artists use. Treat your fans with respect and they will support and promote your work.

Thanks for supporting the artists on NoiseTrade. We’re committed to building great tools to help them build a fair trade relationship with their fans. There’s lots of new features and great music coming in the months ahead. Thanks for being a part of it.

All the best, The NoiseTrade Team

“The second half of one of the most beautiful albums of last year.”

White Lies EP

“Jessica’s sonorous, melancholic vocals and frank, bittersweet lyrics are a welcome and pleasant break from typical indie folk/bluegrass form. After I listen to White Lies, I can’t listen to anything else for a while because I can’t find anything with its honesty, mood, and quality.”

Recycle Everything

“This album makes incredible use of 60’s/70’s samples and has really poignant and clever rhymes. it’s not for the faint of heart (or language, i should say), but for anyone into really original hip-hop, look no further.”

“Lori Chaffer delivers a superb collection of ethereal roots-pop songs. Moving melodies, unflinching lyrics and eccentric production showcase her captivating voice. Before you know it, this music will find a way right into your heart. And you’ll be glad it’s there.”
