Vote for Faceless Int’l on Myspace, help build a school.

Faceless International board member Lori makes the following appeal:

Hey all friends!

Faceless International, an organization where I am a board member – is up for an Impact Award!

If we get the most votes between now and April 1 – we will have enough money to build a much needed school in Southern India – and be able to send teams there to help the locals with the construction!  This area of India is in a tough location – they were hit by the tsunami a few years ago, and it is an area where human trafficking is very prevalent.

So, PLEASE……….

I know that most of you are probably more in Facebook or Twitter land now, but please sign on to your MySpace accounts and vote for Faceless.  We appreciate it!!!

For more information on Faceless – please check out facelessinternational.com.   Or better yet, come along with us to Ukraine in May!  I’m leading a human trafficking awareness trip where we will be working in an orphanage…and I’d love for all of you to come along!

Thank you—–I appreciate your support of Faceless.

Camp Electric–for those too young to do Cornerstone solo

  • What are the dates of Camp Electric?

You can choose from the following:
    June 28 – July 2
    July 5 – July 9

  • What is a typical day?

Each day Camp Electric will start with a worship service. Worship services include praise and worship and also a word from a gifted speaker. Worship will take place every morning and kick off our day; we want the tone of the camp to be all about the talents we have been given, and giving those talents back to Christ. The rest of the day will be filled with sessions for the entire camp group, instrument specific sessions with just your instrument, and smaller sessions broken down into levels of experience on your instrument. You will also have free time each evening where you will have the opportunity to choose from various activities or just choose to chill out with friends. Each night will end with a concert from one of today’s top Christian bands.

  • Where will Camp Electric be held?

Trevecca Nazarene University located in Nashville, TN (www.trevecca.edu) will be host location of Camp Electric. Not only will this university provide a secure environment, but will also be the perfect spot as it is located in the heart of the Music City.

  • Why do we do Camp Electric this way?

Most churches and now even youth groups have a worship team and praise band. Camp Electric has designed its program to come along side the local church to assist in the development and growth of Christian musicians. While Camp Electric is only one week, we package what we believe will be the necessary tools and resources to help each individual/band in their development to attain to the highest level of musicianship.

  • What is the difference between Camp Electric and other music camps?

Camp Electric’s belief is that actual music (no lyrics) is amoral. That is, neither moral nor immoral. However, song lyrics have the ability to speak life or death. The main difference of our camp is that we encourage all of our students whether they are pursuing secular or Christian music to pursue their walk with Christ first. We actually encourage all types of music-Christian and secular. With that said, we also teach kids that the lyrics we meditate on and the artists we admire do matter. There will be no explicit lyrics at Camp Electric or admiration for artist that use them. “You wouldn’t put garbage in your mouth, so don’t put it in your mind.” All instructors at Camp Electric have personally given their testimony of Jesus Christ and seek to use their music to glorify Him.

  • How old to I have to be to attend?

Camp Electric is for those between the ages of 13 to 18.

A Note From Peter

Hello Friends,

Sorry for the delay in getting this brief statement out. As we say around the nb camp, “I’ve been flat out like a lizard drinking.” It’s been a busy time helping the lads with this transition, while at  the same time finishing up the recording and mixing of the new CD in order to make the May 5th release date.

As you know, I have come to a decision that it is time to stop.  I want  to thank you for your prayers and encouragement!  We have had many people write and call asking about my well-being.  Thank you for your  concern!  I am happy to let you know that I am not dying of some sickness or disease, nor am I in some sort of moral or spiritual crisis (Glory To God!). There has been no band bust-up or punch-out! All is well! (Although now that I think of it, I did accidentally render Duncan unconscious one time in a play fight minutes before a concert!).

For me, the decision is that after traveling many thousands of miles across land and sea for over 22 years, along with needing to constantly keep writing and reach production deadlines–let alone feed my dog, It was time for something to give, and my booking agent and his GPS drew the short straw!

What are my plans you ask?  Well, at the moment, they are to encourage the lads in this here “passing of the baton” to Michael, as well as to continue songwriting, and most importantly, for Summer and I to continue doing what we are all called to do–that is reach the people that come across our path with the Love and Spirit of Jesus.

I want to thank YOU! For you have always welcomed me, from the early days of criss-crossing the USA in a beat-up, old dodge van, to traveling in trains, planes, ferries, ships, (and of course the occasional motorbike) into some of the most amazing places on this planet!  Let me think: Morocco, Israel, Asia, UK, Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Russia and Uganda just to name a few.  Seeing your faces and hearing you sing has blessed me. Again, many thanks!

Now, I need to ask you a favor.  Please do the same for my friend, Michael Tait.  Welcome him.  Michael is a statesman in our industry, and he is who I have picked to carry on what I started as a teenager.
newsboys is more than a band to me.  It is a group of people: men and women, husbands and wives, sons and daughters pooling together their gifts and talents, making many sacrifices, and believing that together we are all making a difference in telling the good news of the saving power of our Lord Jesus Christ to our generation.  I am happy to say that this has not changed.

I will continue on with the band as friend, songwriter, cheerleader, and prayer partner.

Please enjoy the new CD, In The Hands of God.  We poured our souls into it. I sang at the top of my lungs! It is for you!

Love and Peace,
Peter Furler

Provident-Integrity reports:

Third Day’s “Revelation Tour” And Album Defy Market Trends: The multi-platinum, GRAMMY and AMA winning rock band Third Day is celebrating sold-out tour dates, a hit album, and a continual No. 1 radio single. The renowned band kicked off its spring “Revelation Tour” this month and has already seen its dates in Green Bay, WI, Pittsburgh, PA, Worcester, MA, Shreveport, LA and the forthcoming show in Macon, GA sell out. While other major acts are starting to bow to the current economic climate by slashing general admission ticket prices, Third Day’s fan support remains as vibrant as ever. A prime example was the recent stop in Jonesboro where 4,600 of the band’s fans converged on Arkansas State University’s Convention Center. Phantom Tollbooth writer, Dr BLT Goes Coastal: Dr BLT will ride the waves of a new radio show

For Immediate Release
Phantom Tollbooth writer, Dr BLT Goes Coastal: Dr BLT will ride the waves of a new radio show beginning March 19, 2009 from 6:30-8:30
Bakersfield and Beyond - music for mavericks, outlaws and romantics!
Wanted to drop a note to folks to remind you to tune in via the FM airwaves (90.5, Point Reyes Station or 89.9 in Bolinas) or stream at www.kwmr.org this Thursday, March 19 from 6:30 pm till 8:30 pm. My pal Mike Varley and I are hosting a new show that launches tomorrow. We will be on the air every other Thursday to spin some great tunes influenced by the Bakersfield Sound (great California music - steel guitar, hillbilly, country, folk, Americana) and beyond - rockabilly, punk, blues etc. that were inspired by the not so sleepy town at the end of the dustbowl migration. The body of work and those that created it is fascinating and will keep us busy for some time.
Not sure what the Bakersfied Sound is? Tune in.
We will be interviewing Bruce Thiessen, PHD (aka Dr. BLT) who is a bakersfield musician and songwriter. He will report out from Bakersfield informing us about what is going on from the hometown.
It’s KWMR pledge drive! We hope that if you like what we are doing, appreciate and enjoy community radio and are a fan of West Marin you will consider supporting the station that is allowing us our endeavors. At any time during the show you should feel compelled to call 415-663- 8273 and talk with Tylan Billings (working the phones). Ty inspired us by encouraging this effort so you can thank him for helping the concept move forward. If you are a regular listener to KWMR you may know that Will Minor had a show in this time slot for many years. He is taking a breather from having a regular show. We have BIG shoes to fill. Future shows will include live music in the studio, more interviews with Dr. BLT and lots of great tunes. We have some really great pledge premiums including some awesome CD’s and even concert tickets to local live music.
Put it on your calendar and let us know what you think!
KWMR.ORG studio number is 415-663-8492 (best to call this number when the music is playing and only during our show, unless you want to talk to other programmers)
