Sunday, May 3rd
5:00pm “Master Class” (Only 1 person has registered so far. Come on people! We need 9 more!)
7:30pm Concert
Cozmic Pizza, 199 W 8th, Eugene, OR
To register for the Master Class click here
To purchase concert tickets click here
The “Master Class” will not be a ‘clinic’ in the typical music store sense nor a formal ‘class’ featuring printed curricula.
Mike says, “This is my chance to share some knowledge and technique with my fans in a more intimate and informal setting. . . my hope is to engage with the fans on a more personal level and share insight into some of the songs that have become favorites over the years. I think it’s a great opportunity for all of us to have a lot of fun learning what I thought I already knew! Those who attend the sessions will have the option to bring along their own acoustic guitars, and I will attempt to teach the group a medley of one of our ‘hits’ with the aim that if all goes well, the group could join me onstage for a final encore at the evening performance. A splendid time is guaranteed for all!” - Mike Roe
As a special bonus only for paid “Master Class” attendees, Mike will offer a free CD of rare and unreleased tracks as a limited edition souvenir to mark the event.
Please note that there is a separate fee and registration to attend the “Master Class.” Mike will also be happy to field questions regarding vocalizing, the business of music, recording techniques and much more, and you may pose your questions on the PayPal payment form.
**There must be 10 participants for the class to go forward. In the event the class is canceled due to lack of interest, the fee will be fully refunded. **

Phantom Tollbooth writer, Dr BLT Goes Coastal: Dr BLT will ride the waves of a new radio show beginning March 19, 2009 from 6:30-8:30
Bakersfield and Beyond - music for mavericks, outlaws and romantics!
Wanted to drop a note to folks to remind you to tune in via the FM airwaves (90.5, Point Reyes Station or 89.9 in Bolinas) or stream at www.kwmr.org this Thursday, March 19 from 6:30 pm till 8:30 pm. My pal Mike Varley and I are hosting a new show that launches tomorrow. We will be on the air every other Thursday to spin some great tunes influenced by the Bakersfield Sound (great California music - steel guitar, hillbilly, country, folk, Americana) and beyond - rockabilly, punk, blues etc. that were inspired by the not so sleepy town at the end of the dustbowl migration. The body of work and those that created it is fascinating and will keep us busy for some time.
Not sure what the Bakersfied Sound is? Tune in.
We will be interviewing Bruce Thiessen, PHD (aka Dr. BLT) who is a bakersfield musician and songwriter. He will report out from Bakersfield informing us about what is going on from the hometown.
It’s KWMR pledge drive! We hope that if you like what we are doing, appreciate and enjoy community radio and are a fan of West Marin you will consider supporting the station that is allowing us our endeavors. At any time during the show you should feel compelled to call 415-663- 8273 and talk with Tylan Billings (working the phones). Ty inspired us by encouraging this effort so you can thank him for helping the concept move forward. If you are a regular listener to KWMR you may know that Will Minor had a show in this time slot for many years. He is taking a breather from having a regular show. We have BIG shoes to fill. Future shows will include live music in the studio, more interviews with Dr. BLT and lots of great tunes. We have some really great pledge premiums including some awesome CD’s and even concert tickets to local live music.
Put it on your calendar and let us know what you think!
KWMR.ORG studio number is 415-663-8492 (best to call this number when the music is playing and only during our show, unless you want to talk to other programmers)
